This week in Childrens (9/12-9/18)

Hello Parents and church family

The greatest knowledge that one can posses is that of God.  By His love God has revealed himself generally to all through His power and divine nature to men by way of creation (Romans 1) and specially through Christ, His son, who is the fulness of God (Colossians 1) and now through the fulness of scripture.  Seeing the world through the bible, and ultimately God, since the bible is the Word of God, gives us the right perspective or world-view in life.

This Sunday we will be celebrating and remembering the Lord’s supper or communion.  This is one of the 2 ordinances  that we as baptists observe, the other being baptism.  It is important that children see the out working of our faith and a great time for this is when we remember the sacrificial death of the author and profector of that faith, Christ.

**Rootz therefore will not be meeting this week in order for parents to take the lead in this act of faith**.

Attached Home Help
this is intended to be a help for your family in describing the basics of communion
In short

The Lord’s Supper is a symbol of the price that was paid for our redemption: THE BODY AND BLOOD.

  • Initiation by Christ: Luke 22:19,20
  • In the Epistles: I Corinthians 10:16; 11:23-30
  • The sacrifice of Christ was a Perfect One…WITHOUT SIN: II Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 9:4; I Peter 1:19; 2:22; I John 3:5
  • The elements of Communion:
    • Symbolize the Body: Hebrews 10:5-10; John 1:14; Genesis 3:15
    • Symbolize the Blood: Acts 20:28; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 9:14; I Peter 1:19; Revelation 1:5
