Our Passion
Since the birth of the church, every generation has struggled to deal with what is called “missional drift”. It was the same issue Israel faced in Joshua and Judges. Joshua’s generation understood the mission, trusted God personally and made courageous sacrifices to carry it out. The second generation had seen with their own eyes God’s mighty hand of deliverance and watched their parents carry out the mission, but chose to do nothing further about the God given mission. They made no new courageous sacrifices, but benefited from their parents’ courage. For them it was just stories of the past. The third generation as a result never saw the powerful hand of God at work. As a result they chose to walk away from the faith of their fathers and embrace the culture of their day.
The fundamental evangelical bible believing and teaching church of today struggles with the same thing… “missional drift”. Authentic Christianity has morphed into a kind of powerless cultural Christianity for many. What was the original mission? To make Holy Spirit filled, grace empowered disciples of Christ of every age group and generation. What is a fully equipped disciple of Christ? One who has embraced and lives out of both the priorities and character of Christ.
At High Point that is our missional passion. It is reflected in both our Mission and Vision statement and is built into all of our ministries.
